CAK's Spencer Strider picked by Indians in 35th round

Spencer Strider, a flame-throwing pitcher from CAK, was drafted Wednesday in the 35th round of the Major League Baseball draft by the Cleveland Indians.

Strider was the 1,062nd pick of the draft that concluded at 40 rounds.

He signed with Clemson in November.

Strider went 13-0 this season in leading CAK to a Class AA state championship. He was selected as the Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year for Tennessee.

Baseball America rated Strider the fourth-best prospect in the state.
