McCallie senior forward Drew Viscomi is one of seven players up for USA Today's All-USA boys' soccer player of the year sponsored by American Family Insurance.

Supporters are asked to vote at usatodayhss.com/?p=101233315 for their favorite finalists, with the national award to be announced later this week.

Viscomi, a Northwestern University signee and the Gatorade player of the year in Tennessee, had 36 goals and 12 assists this past season while helping the Blue Tornado go 14-1-4 and win the Division II-AA state championship, their first title since 1999.

"Just to be considered, it's a huge blessing," Viscomi said Tuesday while attending the Chattanooga Football Club's match against the Birmingham Hammers. "It reminds me how fortunate I am."

He called the rest of the finalists "a talented group." Haji Abdikadir of Louisville (Ky.) Collegiate; Miguel Baca of Dodge City, Kan.; Jacob Labovitz of Langley High in McLean, Va.; Sean Murray of Scotch Plains-Fanwood in New Jersey; Umar Farouk Osman of Hotchkiss School in Connecticut; and Mason Toye of Seton Hall Prep, also in New Jersey, are the other finalists.

Osman had 19 goals and nine assists for the season. The Michigan signee recently was named the Gatorade national player of the year and will encounter Viscomi plenty over the next four seasons in Big Ten play. So will Toye, the New Jersey Gatorade player of the year with 21 goals and 13 assists; he will play collegiately at Indiana.

Murray, a Monmouth signee, plays goalkeeper and recorded 14 shutouts in his senior season.

Abdikadir, a junior who's already committed to Louisville, had 40 goals and 12 assists and was the Kentucky Gatorade honoree. Baca is a defender but chipped in nine goals and won the same honor in Kansas. Fairleigh Dickinson signee Labovitz was Virginia's Gatorade player of the year after recording 42 goals and 12 assists in his first 20 games of the season.
