Bolivar QB Lowe names top 7 college choices

Jackson Sun

JACKSON – Trey Lowe’s recruitment process is apparently nearing its end.

The Bolivar quarterback announced his top seven college choices on Twitter last Friday and added his commitment will be announced in July.

Bolivar quarterback Trey Lowe drops back to pass in the Tigers’ game against South Side on Sept. 9. The Tigers are 5-0 for the first time in more than three decades.

The schools on his list of seven are the seven biggest programs who’ve extended him a scholarship offer: West Virginia, Arkansas State, Illinois, North Carolina, Houston, Southern Miss and Memphis.

The order of the schools listed in the graphic in his tweet were in “random order.” Other than the month of July, there’s not yet a plan for his announcement.

“I don’t have a specific date in mind, but I think this process needs to end pretty quickly before I start my final season at Bolivar,” said Lowe, who’s rated on 247Sports.com as the No. 23 prospect in the state of Tennessee and the No. 23 dual-threat quarterback in the country for the 2018 signing class.

He’s listed at 6-feet-3-inches and 185 pounds with a 4.7 40-yard dash time.

Lowe said he hasn’t decided on a major yet, and all seven schools fit him well as far as what kind of offense he wants to play a part of.

“I can run if I need to, but I feel like I’m better as a drop-back passer,” Lowe said.

Bolivar Central's Trey Lowe (10) takes the snap against Raleigh-Egypt at Tiger Stadium in Bolivar, Tenn., on Friday, Sept. 30, 2016.

Memphis was the first school on the list to make him an offer. The Tigers were the second school overall to make him an offer.

Houston is the most recent school on the list, offering him a scholarship last week.

While schools and football programs themselves aren’t allowed to publicly contact or mention prospective student-athletes per NCAA regulations, apparent fans of each school with such skills have posted edited graphics onto social media depicting Lowe in their team’s uniform.

Going ahead and picking a school would probably be beneficial for Lowe, as he and the Tigers have their sites set on competing for the Region 7-3A championship and leading the program to taking another step. This season will be his fourth year as the starting quarterback.
