6 Jackson area softball players named TSWA all-state
One day after six West Tennessee baseball players were named to the Tennessee Sports Writers Association all-state teams, six softball players were honored in a release Thursday night.
Three of the West Tennessee players honored were named to the Class AA team.
South Side sophomore Josie Willingham was the lone catcher named to the AA team.
Willingham, a University of Tennessee commit, batted .400 this season with 32 RBI, 28 runs scored and 13 stolen bases.
Lexington junior Kaitlyn Kelley was one of four infielders named to the AA team.
Kelley batted .541 with 11 doubles and 58 RBI.
Dyersburg senior Taylor Hopper was also named to the Class AA team as an outfielder.
Two West Tennessee players were named to the Class A team.
Jackson Christian sophomore Sophie Dunavant helped lead the Lady Eagles to a top-four finish in the Class A state tournament.
She was the lone catcher named to the Class A team after batting .528 with 48 RBI, 50 runs scored, 10 home runs and 14 doubles.
Huntingdon freshman Kaci Fuller was a key component to the Fillies District 13-A championship run.
She was one of three outfielders named to the team after batting .575 with 26 RBI, 44 runs scored and 6 triples.
University School of Jackson's Kallie Pickens was the lone area player named to the Division II team.
Pickens was one of four infielders honored after leading the Lady Bruins to a region title and batting .506 to go along with 33 RBI, 33 runs scored, 14 doubles and 6 home runs.
