3 Jackson area soccer players named TSWA all-state

On Friday evening, the Tennessee Sports Writers Association released its all-state soccer teams, and three West Tennessee players were honored.

And all three come from the city of Jackson.

Two of the three honorees are in Class A-AA.

North Side junior Rodrigo Atilano, the 2017 All-West Tennessee Boys Soccer Offensive Player of the Year, was named to the team as a forward.

Atilano led the Indians to the Class A-AA quarterfinals with 44 goals and 12 assists.

Jackson Christian senior Marshall Davis, a 2017 All-West Tennessee Boys Soccer First Team member, was also honored as a midfielder.

Davis, a Bethel signee, helped lead the Eagles to the Class A-AA quarterfinals.

The third honoree was University School of Jackson junior Jack Edwards, who was named to the Division II-A all-state team.

Edwards, a 2017 All-West Tennessee Boys Soccer First Team member, finished the year with 16 goals and nine assists. Edwards is a Memphis commit.
