Siegel wins First Tennessee All Sports Award

MURFREESBORO — Siegel High's strong performance in Spring Fling helped propel the school to its second First Tennessee All Sports Award in the trophy's three-year history.

Siegel, which won its first TSSAA Class AAA state baseball title and finished runner-up in softball, won with 145 points. Blackman finished second with 125 points.

Blackman and Siegel entered the spring sports postseason tied with 125 points.

However, Siegel received five bonus points for both the baseball and softball programs reaching the state tournament. It then added another 10 bonus points for winning a team state title.

Blackman didn't advance to any state team tournament this spring.

Siegel won the award in its inaugural award in 2014. Central Magnet won it in 2015.

A trophy presentation will be scheduled in the upcoming days.
