High school football were chomping at the bit to hit the field for the first time in full pads on Monday.

Some Midstate teams even started at Midnight, when they were officially eligible.

However, Siegel passed on the opportunity to practice in full pads Monday.

Siegel senior Marshall Wilson poses for a selfie with his mother, Julie, during the team's media day Monday.

The team had just gotten back in town after spending Wednesday through Saturday last week out of town at a camp at UT-Martin.

"We didn't get back until Saturday and I gave them off Sunday, and today was picture day," said first-year coach Michael Copley.

The team engaged in the media/photo day early Monday morning and was scheduled for their first official practice Tuesday morning at 7:30 a.m.

The camp was beneficial, Copley said.

"We took their cell phones away," Copley said. "It was more about players getting to know each other than it was about football."

Copley was pleased with how the team performed during the camp. However, unfortunately for the Stars, senior wide receiver/defensive back Caleb Bull left camp with a collarbone injury. Freshman Benjamin Painter also suffered a collarbone injury on the trip.

"It's part of it, unfortunately," Copley said. "It happened during 7-on-7s during non-contact, diving for balls."

Siegel is scheduled to scrimmage at Hendersonville Friday at 5 p.m.
