Who are Rutherford County area football teams scrimmaging?

UPDATED, with Blackman vs. Overton time changed.

There are some intriguing matchups when Rutherford County area football teams test their skills in preseason scrimmages.

Scrimmages begin as early as Thursday. Most teams have three to four on their slate before the regular season kicks off.

Among the intriguing tests will be Oakland at McCallie July 27 and at home against Brentwood Academy on Aug. 8.

Blackman will battle at home against Franklin Friday at 5 p.m.. The Blaze will go to Father Ryan on Aug. 4 at 5 p.m..

The Irish will battle three area teams, including Riverdale (July 28) and a work day at home with Siegel (Aug. 1).

There will be jamborees on Aug. 11, including the Rutherford County Jamboree. The regular season begins Aug. 18. Teams began practicing in full pads on Monday.

Blackman

Aug. 28 vs. Franklin, 5 p.m.; Aug. 1 vs. Overton, 9 a.m.; Aug. 4 at Father Ryan, 5 p.m.

Eagleville

Aug. 4 vs. Cascade, 6 p.m.

La Vergne

July 27 at Hillsboro, 5:30 p.m.; Aug. 3 vs. Centennial, 5:30 p.m.; Aug. 8 at Cookeville, 5 p.m.
