Tennessee High Officially Names Three New Head Coaches

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Tennessee High Athletic Director Barry Wade announced the appointment of three Lady Viking coaches for the upcoming 2017-18 school year on Monday.

Chancli DeClerq was named as head softball coach and Sonny ‘Thad’ Lambert was introduced as Wade’s successor with as head girls’ basketball caoch. Also, former volleyball coach Mary Johnson returns after two years away from the program.

DeClerq coached at Maryville High School from 2013-2014 and was an assistant at Tennessee High School from 2015-2016. DeClerq has also been a teacher at Tennessee High since 2014.

DeClerq will be joined by assistant coach and conditioning coach David Boggs. Boggs has nine years of softball coaching experience, both at Tennessee High School and Vance Middle School.

DeClerq and Boggs replace Kortney Caldwell, who recently accepted a teaching position at Science Hill High School.

Lambert coached boys basketball at Lebanon High School in Virginia for the past 10 years and at Castlewood High School four years prior to that.

He has 16 years teaching experience in Russell County.

Johnson was head volleyball coach at Tennessee High for nine years and head volleyball coach at Abingdon High School for eight years prior to that.

She was named 2007, 2010, and 2013 Big 7 Conference Coach of the Year. Johnson is also a physical education teacher at Tennessee High. Johnson replaces former head coach Holly Perdue.
