Knoxville area top 10 high school football teams

1. Farragut (2-0) – Junior running back Kyle Carter ran for 148 yards in the Admirals’ 34-14 win over McMinn County. Last week: No. 3. This week: vs. Morristown West (Thursday).

2. Maryville (1-1) – The Rebels lost their first game in 71 regular-season outings to Oakland last week and dropped to No. 3 in the AP’s state ranking. Last week: No. 1. This week: vs. McMinn County.

3. Catholic (1-1) – The Irish played Maryville to a seven-point deficit, then added a decisive 56-24 win over Baylor. Last week: No. 2. This week: vs. Eagles Landing (Ga.)

4. Fulton (1-0) – The Falcons came out big, shutting out Central 41-0 in an imperfectly played game. Last week: No. 5. This week: vs. Powell.

5. Alcoa (1-1) – The Tornadoes gave up a 14-6 lead and fell to Corbin (Ky.) in overtime 22-21. Last week: No. 4. This week: at Scott.

6. Greeneville (2-0) – The Greene Devils continued rolling with a 38-14 win over Morristown West. Last week: No. 6. This week: vs. Union County.

7. Kingston (2-0) – The Yellow Jackets cruised to a 49-3 win over Oliver Springs last week, after a closer but still decisive 28-13 win over Harriman in Week 1. Last week: NR. This week: at Austin-East.

8. Austin-East (2-0) – The Roadrunners rolled to two wide margins to start the season: 28-0 against Gibbs, then 43-20 over Brainerd. Last week: NR. This week: vs. Kingston.

9. Oak Ridge (1-1) – The Wildcats have played two close games to start the season and fell to Dobyns-Bennett 28-25 last week. Last week: No. 8. This week: at Campbell County.

10. Powell (2-0) – The Panthers were led defensively by Bryson Reed, who made 10 tackles including three for losses in a dominant 42-13 win over Cumberland County. Last week: NR. This week: at Fulton.
