Dickson County's Murphree keeping positive outlook despite 0-4 start

Dickson County's football season continues to be one that fans would more than likely want to forget.

But despite the 0-4 start, Dickson County coach Randy Murphree is still encouraged by the progress his young team is making week-in and week-out.

"There's no doubt that players are frustrated, but we just have to continue to work and be positive," said Murphree.

"We have to get better at what we do, both offensively and defensively, and create some depth along the way. We're an extremely young football team  all the way, whether we have 10 seniors or not. Most of those seniors didn't see a lot of playing time. We're still a young team. We're continued to be encouraged by our youth and where we're headed."

Dickson County now welcomes in another struggling team in Region 6-6A in Centennial. Centennial won their first game 26-23 against Ravenwood, but have lost three straight since then. Murphree is not dismissing the Williamson County school despite it's struggles, who won Region 7-5A last year with a perfect 7-0 region record.

"They're another Williamson County school that, interior wise, their offensive line is always very good and physical," said Murphree.

"They've still got their skill kids. As far as throwing the ball, they still haven't found their edge offensively. They have the people to do different things, but I think they're still searching what their identity is offensively. With their linemen, however, they can do a lot of different things."

A win for Dickson County would be the first win against Centennial in a decade, with their last win coming against Centennial in 2007.

"We're going against an opponent again that's well coached," said Murphree.

"Coach (Matt) Kriesky does a great job. They're well conditioned, well-worked in the weight room, and we'll have our hands full again.
