Clarksville area high school football top games for Week 10: Northeast seeks region title
The final two weeks of the high school football season should be a wild finish as teams now know what it will take to get to the postseason.
Here is a look at the area's top games as USA TODAY Network – Tennessee’s George Robinson picks the winners.
GAME OF THE WEEK
Northeast (6-2, 5-0) at Henry County (5-3, 4-0)
When: 7 p.m.
There's no way around this. Northeast and Henry County will play for the Region 7-5A title Friday in Paris. No team in Clarksville will agree it's easy to travel to Paris and beat the most dominant team in this league for more than 15 years. But few teams in Clarksville have ever had the kind of talent that the Eagles will bring to this huge road contest. Both teams are already in the playoffs and will open the postseason at home. But for Northeast, this means its first crack at a region championship since 1996 and, at this school, that means a lot.
Robinson's pick: Northeast 35, Henry County 31
Rossview (5-3, 2-1) at Hendersonville (5-3, 2-1)
When: 7 p.m.
Rossview will try to knock off the rust, after having a week off, against one of the top teams in Region 4-6A. There's a three-way tie for second place in the region with Rossview, Hendersonville and Lebanon, all with 2-1 league records. The next two weeks will sort out which team is placed where as the Hawks finish the regular season at home against Lebanon. Lebanon faces Wilson Central (0-3 in region) Friday so wins by the Hawks and the Blue Devils this week would put both in a tie for second. That means the regular-season finale between the two could determine who earns a home playoff game.
Robinson's pick: Rossview 24, Hendersonville 21
Houston Co. (4-4, 0-3) at E. Hickman (2-6, 0-3)
When: 7 p.m.
The Fighting Irish are coming off a 35-7 loss to Riverside but managed to move the ball against a much bigger and more talented team. So Houston County is fighting for its playoff life. It needs to win its final two Region 6-2A games to have a shot and playing East Hickman coupled with the above motivation, the Fighiting Irish should make their season finale against Scots Hill next week an interesting one.
Robinson's pick: Houston County 40, East Hickman 14
