Top Knoxville area high school football games in Week 10 include Hardin Valley vs Bearden

Game of the week

Hardin Valley (4-4, 2-2) at Bearden (4-4, 1-3)

Aaron Dykes leads the Hardin Valley offense with 1,099 yards. Both 1-6A teams have dynamic rushers, but Bearden plays a more balanced offense with running back D.J. Cox and Collin Ironside.

Oak Ridge's Johnny Stewart (2) runs down field during a high school football game at Oak Ridge against West on Friday, Sept. 15, 2017.

Oak Ridge (6-2, 4-0) at Powell (5-3, 2-3)

Powell sits just out of playoff contention but is looking to get in with a big last 3-5A game. Oak Ridge is tied with Fulton atop the region, after coach Joe Gaddis' 300th win last week.

West (5-3, 3-1) at Fulton (7-1, 4-0)

A tight defense meets dynamic offense in this 3-5A matchup. West has only allowed 35 points in their four region games, second only to Fulton's 29. The Falcons have put up 159 points in their four region games.

Sevier County's Anthony Velasquez makes the catch while defended by Seymour's, from left, Gabe Kitts, Cameron Dyer, and Michael Nevins on Thursday, October 12, 2017.

Sevier Co. (4-4, 3-1) at Halls (3-4, 3-1)

These teams are tied atop 2-5A and this game will likely decide the winner. Their offensive numbers are evenly matched, though Halls' 44-6 loss to South-Doyle makes up the difference in defensive numbers.

Donelson Christian (5-3, 3-2) at King’s Academy (6-2, 4-1)

Donelson is coming off having been blown out by Middle Tennessee Christian and then blowing out Chattanooga Grace. King's Academy quarterback Brandon Burgess has had good performances recently heading into this DII-A East matchup.

Kingston's Nathan Jones (7) runs the ball during a game between Kingston and Austin-East at Austin East High School in Knoxville, Tennessee on Friday, September 1, 2017.

Pigeon Forge (4-4, 1-3) at Kingston (6-2, 2-2)

Neither team has put up big numbers on offense in 3-3A, but they are comparable. Kingston does have the edge with better numbers on defense.

Lookout Valley (4-4) at Sunbright (4-4)

These teams have two common opponents. Both teams beat Sale Creek soundly, but Lookout Valley played a closer game against Oakdale (two scores) than did Sunbright (seven scores).

Carter (2-6, 2-2) at Gibbs (4-4, 2-2)

It's been a rollercoaster in 2-5A. Carter beat South-Doyle but lost to Central, while Gibbs beat Sevier County but lost to Halls and South-Doyle.

Red Bank (6-2) at Lenoir City (5-3)

Red Bank has averaged 38 points on offense and 17 on defense, and Lenoir City is 25-25. Lenoir City has split rushing responsibilities between quarterback Devin Noah and running back Tyler Dutton.

Cocke County (3-5, 0-4) at Morristown East (3-6, 2-2)

Cocke County has struggled to find its footing in 1-5A but has similar overall numbers to Morristown East.
