Knoxville area high school football 5 regions to watch in last two weeks of season

The high school football season is down to the last two weeks of the regular season. Here are five regions to watch.

Alcoa’s Walker Russell looks for an open receiver during the game agaist Maryville on Friday, September 8, 2017.

Region 2-3A

The region title will probably come down to a Week 11 matchup between Austin-East and Alcoa, who are 4-0. Alcoa has the edge offensively, but both have played tight defense in the region.

Kingston will likely take third place and fourth place would go to Northview Academy, but Pigeon Forge could challenge for one of those spots.

Halls' Cooper Cook (6) runs the ball during a game between South Doyle and Halls at South Doyle High School in Knoxville, Tennessee, on Friday, October 6, 2017.

Region 2-5A

Friday's game between Sevier County and Halls could decide the region title. They are  tied at 3-1 with two games to go. Next week Sevier County takes on 2-2 Carter while Halls faces 0-5 Seymour.

Third place could come down to a tiebreaker between Gibbs and South-Doyle, which has the head-to-head edge.

A pass intended for Fulton's Jashaun Fenderson falls incomplete during the game agains tCampbell County on Friday, October 13, 2017.

Region 3-5A

The region title will probably come down to the Week 11 matchup between Fulton and Oak Ridge, who are likely to be 5-0. Both teams have potent offenses and tight defenses.

Third could come down to a Week 11 matchup between West and Campbell County, a game pitting the region's second-best defense (West) against the second-best offense (Campbell County).

Farragut's Braden Collins (23) runs with the ball as Bearden's Nick Ingrando (13) attempts to stop him during a high school football game between Farragut and Bearden at Farragut Friday, Oct. 13, 2017. Farragut took down Bearden 31 to 14.

Region 1-6A

If Farragut, Science Hill and Dobyns-Bennett all win their last games, they could end up in a three-way tie. The first tiebreaker is head-to-head but each has a 1-1 record against the other two. The second tiebreaker is overall wins. Farragut’s potential 9-1 record would give it the 1-6A title.

Second place would go back to head-to-head and go to Science Hill. Fourth could come down to the Hardin Valley vs. Bearden matchup this week.

Maryville's Dylan Hopkins looks for an open receiver during the game against Alcoa on Friday, September 8, 2017.

Region 2-6A

The region title will probably come down to the season finale between Maryville and Bradley Central, who are 4-0 with beatable opponents this week.

If Cleveland defeats Ooltewah this week, it could take third and Ooltewah would stay in fourth.

All but locked up

A few regions are pretty much determined, barring an upset. Catholic is in a good position in 4-5A, the only question being between Soddy-Daisy and Walker Valley for fourth.

Greeneville and Anderson County look comfortable in 1-4A and 2-4A, respectively. Greenback is in good position in 2-1A after beating Coalfield two weeks ago.
