Houston and Collierville both advanced to the semifinals of the Class AAA state girls soccer tournament with victories Wednesday in Murfreesboro.

The Mustangs got a first-half goal from Maddie Eskin before Abbie Rushwin and Emma Riales scored in quick succession in the second half to defeat Murfreesboro Siegel, 3-0. Houston — the top-ranked team in the nation according to USA Today — is now 22-0 and will take on Brentwood in a semifinal game Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

They're joined in the final four by the Dragons, who got a goal from Kammy McGee two minutes in, an insurance goal from Sydney Davis midway through the second half and some excellent goalkeeping from Emily Samisch to defeat Murfreesboro Oakland, 2-0.

Collierville (16-4-1) will play Franklin Thursday at 4 p.m.

In Class AA, Covington's first trip to the state tournament ended in disappointment as the Chargers (18-4-0) fell to Greeneville, 9-0.
