East Hamilton, Signal Mountain win in state soccer tourney

East Hamilton got second-half goals from Julia Kaset and Madeline Frank and defeated Lexington 2-0 in a TSSAA Class AA girls' state soccer quarterfinal Wednesday on Field No. 1 at the Siegel Soccer Complex in Murfreesboro.

After playing to a scoreless tie in Class A on Field No. 2, Signal Mountain beat Richland by winning 4-1 on penalty kicks.

Also in Class AA, Page ended McMinn Central's season by beating the Lady Chargers 5-1 on Field No. 2.

East Hamilton (15-3-1) will play White House (15-4-3) in a semifinal today on Field No. 2 at 5:30 p.m. EDT.

Signal Mountain (10-5-1) is scheduled to play Chuckey-Doak (13-6-1) today on Field No. 2 at 2:30.

Kaset's goal came early in the second half and Frank's occurred within the final 10 minutes. Lauren Barcelona assisted both. Keeper Madeline Marenic earned the shutout.

Avery Engels, Kennedy Ethridge, Camilla Mincey and Haleigh Ward made the PKs for Signal Mountain. Keeper Amanda Muschel made saves on two of Richland's penalty shots.

Page (15-5) got a hat trick from Megan Henry that provided all the first-half scoring against McMinn Central (9-10-1). The Lady Chargers were down 5-0 when Carlie Runyan scored their goal off an assist from Amber Scapellato with 20 minutes to play.
