A week after getting its first win of the season, Dickson County ended the 2017 campaign falling 31-0 to Franklin.

“We were hoping to carry momentum into this game from last week, but we fell behind early,” Dickson County coach Randy Murphree said. “It’s hard to shake off a deficit once you get down 14-0, 21-0.”

Dickson County’s lost to Franklin leaves them in last place in Region 6-6A.

“Franklin was a very well coached and extremely athletic team,” Murphree said. “You know you’re getting a good football team when you play them and they showed up last night.”

The Cougars' offense put up a season-high 29 points in last week’s win over Lawrence County, but due to the harsh weather conditions, were unable to string together points on Friday.

“Our offensive line was our strength of our team all season, but last night Franklin was just quicker up front,” Murphree said. “The bad weather also affected our ability to put together cohesive drives.”

“In the first quarter, we were moving the ball well and had our chances to score,” Murphree said. “But we did poor job of executing when it mattered the most.”

Dickson County graduates nine seniors.

“We need to look at our conditioning in off season,” Murphree said. “We also have to work on our culture. Some of our kids aren’t buying into the team. We aren’t a group of individuals, we are a team.”
