University High was perfect in winning the 2017 Region 1 Small School Boys Cross Country Championship and nearly perfect in claiming the Girls’ title as well.

Porter Bradley (17:19.0), Pablo Rivas (18:07.6), Blake Ryan (18:12.1), Will Owen (18:30.5) and Caleb Strickler (18:32.8) finished one through five for the perfect score of 15 points. In fact, the Junior Bucs nearly went one step further as Luke Bader (19:24.0) and Bracken Burns (20:03.1) crossed behind Chuckey-Doak’s Irving Medina (18:52.7) as University High’s seven runners claimed all but one of the top eight spots. The Lady Bucs also grabbed seven of the top eight positions with only third-place Kamorah Rhylick of Cumberland Gap smashing the University High processional with a third place finish.
