NASHVILLE -- Saturday was a great day for high school cross country teams from Chattanooga as three teams came home with state championships and 25 individuals earned All-State honors by finishing in the top 15 of their respective races.
GPS and Signal Mountain were team champions among the girls while the Chattanooga Christian boys were also victorious.
Carley Braman was the runner-up in the Division II-AA race to lead the GPS Bruisers to a first-place finish. Braman covered the 3.1-mile course at Percy Warner Park in 20 minutes, seven seconds to lead her team to victory as they totaled 63 points to runner-up Brentwood Academy's 69.
Jane Eiselstein was fourth for GPS with a time of 20:39 while Myra Brock earned All-State honors by finishing 10th in 21:12.
Emrick Garrett was sixth in 20:50 and Sydney Cansler 14th in 21:40 as Baylor was fourth with 100 points.
Mattie Parker was third overall with a time of 21:27 as the Signal Mountain girls prevailed with 42 points. Teammates Julia Agan, Tara Jessen and Kathleen Umbarger were all All-State as Agan was seventh in 22:00, Jessen ninth in 22:24 and Umbarger 14th in 22:55.
Edimo Nintereste was the runner-up in the Division II-A race for boys to lead the Chattanooga Christian Chargers to a first-place finish with 62 points.
Teammates Joshua Richardson and Matthew Adams were 13th and 14th with times of 18:04 and 18:05, respectively.
While there were three teams champions from Hamilton County, McCallie finished second in the D-II-AA race while Signal Mountain was third in the D-I Small race.
Dawson Carmack led McCallie by finishing sixth in 17:13 while teammate Duke Richey was right behind in seventh four seconds later. Chris Duncan and Samuel Ligon also earned All-State honors for the Blue Tornado by finishing 10th and 13th overall with times of 17:31 and 17:38, respectively.
Garrison Wheeler was the leader for the Signal Mountain boys as he was eighth in 18:00.15 as he beat Grundy County's Leo Penne by less than a second. Penne was ninth in 18:00.91.
Daniel Hillard and tamjeed Azad finished 12th and 14th for Signal Mountain while Mack Alas of CSAS was 15th.
Red Bank's Cole Bullock was fifth in the D-I-Large race as he finished with a time of 16:04.
Chattanooga Christian's Phoebe Moran was 14th in the D-II Class A race with a time of 21:54 as the Lady Chargers finished sixth with 144 points.
Rhea County's Lesley Green was 11th in the girls D-I Large race with a time of 19:31 while Sequatchie County's Emma Bradford was 12th in the D-I Small race with a time of 22:42.
