Twelve Nashville-area high school football players were named finalists for the Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Awards on Monday.

Two come from the same school.

Nashville Christian's Brant Lawless and Xavier Myers were named finalists for the Division II-A award.

Lawless is a dominant defensive tackle and a Tennessee commitment. He had 31.5 tackles in the regular season and 9.5 sacks.

Xavier rushed for 2,174 yards in the regular season with 30 touchdowns on 185 carries.

A committee of statewide sports writers selected the winners for the Mr. Football and Kicker of the Year Award based on performance during the regular season.

The TSSAA whittled down the five semifinalists to three finalists. The winners will be announced during a luncheon at Nissan Stadium on Nov. 27.

Davidson Academy's Da'Joun Hewitt, who had 1,905 rushing yards and a Nashville-area best 30 touchdowns, was the third finalist for the DII-A award. It marks the only category that included three area players.

In Class 3A, Fairview running back Darius James and Pearl-Cohn athlete Jimmyrious Parker were named finalists. James has 1,643 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns this season. Parker has 1,948 all-purpose yards and 16 touchdowns.

Fairview plays at Pearl-Cohn on Friday in a state quarterfinal.
