Nashville area has 38 chosen for TACA all-star high school football game

The Nashville area will be well represented in this year's Toyota East West Football All-Star Classic held Dec. 8 at Austin Peay's Fortera Stadium.

Thirty-eight players from the Midstate were chosen for the contest, including 13 for the East team and 25 for the West.

The East team is highlight by Class 6A Mr. Football finalist Savion Davis of Riverdale and four-star prospect Alontae Taylor of Coffee County.

Their teammates include Moore County running back Coy Cashion, Smith County receiver Shermar King, Shelbyville receiver Avery Brown, Mt. Juliet safety Aidan Raines, Tullahoma corner Amauri Burks, Smyrna corner Lennon Harris, Mt. Juliet linebacker Tony Thompson, Jackson County linebacker Colby Long, Blackman defensive lineman Ben Kalu, Oakland defensive lineman Blake Spencer and Mt. Juliet defensive lineman Cade Hoppe. 

Smyrna coach Matt Williams is the East coach. His staff includes Moore County coach Jason Dobbs, Jackson County coach Sean Loftis and Gallatin coach Mark Williams.

The West team is highlighted by Class 4A Mr. Football finalist and Spring Hill running back Dontae Smith, Class 3A Mr. Football finalist and Fairview running back Darius James, Class 3A Mr. Football finalist and Pearl-Cohn athlete Jimmyrious Parker and Division II-AA Mr. Football semifinalist and BGA quarterback Drew Martin.
