GREENBRIER — The Harpeth girls' basketball team rallied in the second half Friday night to get its first win in District 9-AA, knocking off host Greenbrier 39-26.

Here are five takeaways from the game.

For whom Tolle tolls

Harpeth senior Madison Tolle led the Lady Indians with 18 points, but she scored 11 of her team's final 16 points to help the Lady Indians put the game away.

"She tore her ACL last year as a junior and she didn't play at all, but she played great," Harpeth coach James Mitchell said. "It was one of those things where we were going to her until they stopped it, and we were blessed to keep it going."

Road warriors

Harpeth went only 2-4 on the road last year in the district and then lost its first district road contest this season.

But by scoring 20 of the game's last 24 points, the Lady Indians (3-4, 1-1) turned that around Friday night.

"We we've been struggling finishing and scoring, and any win you get on the road is big," Mitchell said. "I was really pleased with how we executed and how kept our composure. I was tickled with that."

Winning streak snapped

Greenbrier (4-4, 0-1) had won three straight coming into the game and built six-point leads in the first half and held a 22-19 lead early in the second half.

But Amanda Bennett's basket in the middle of the third quarter was the Lady Bobcats' last basket.

"We definitely didn't the shoot the ball very well," Greenbrier coach Carl Miller said. "We're can't rely just on Amanda Bennett every single night. You've got to credit their defense, but we've got to be better."

Already battling for position

With Cheatham County and White House Heritage considered the district favorites, Friday's game loomed for teams battling for the No. 3 and 4 spots.

"That's why this game was so critical for us," Miller said. "We told them it needs to start here, and we just didn't get it done."

What's next

Harpeth takes on the district favorites this week, playing host to Cheatham County on Tuesday and then traveling to Heritage on Friday.

Greenbrier, which has won three of its four road games, plays at White House on Tuesday and Westmoreland on Friday.
