Area All-Stars shine

Several area football players finished their high school careers on a high note, helping the East All-Stars defeat the West 16-10 in the East-West contest Friday at Austin Peay.

The biggest impact came from Riverdale senior and 6A Mr. Football winner Savion Davis, who caught an 83-yard touchdown pass from region mate Alontae Taylor (Coffee County) that proved to be the game-winner.

Davis finished with 14 yards on six carries and the long TD reception.

Oakland senior Jeron Rooks had 8 yards on five carries as the East squad was held to just 116 yards on the ground in the defensive battle.

Blackman's Ben Kalu had four tackles and a sack (for a 13-yard loss) while Smyrna's Lennon Harris had three tackles and two pass breakups. Former Blackman standout Amauri Burks (Tullahoma) had four tackles for the East.

Taylor was the offensive MVP for the East. Mt. Juliet's Tony Thompson was defensive MVP.
