Memphis high school basketball top performers for Dec. 12

Boys

Tyler Harris, Cordova: The city's top scorer shook off a slow start to finish with 19 points, including the game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer as the Wolves defeated  White Station, 59-56. Bruce Guy had 14 for Cordova while Kobe Powell had eight points, nine rebounds and six steals.

Maurice Dickson, GRAD Academy: The 6-5 senior scored 14 while Kerry Pratt added 12 as the Gryphons pounded Trezevant, 58-26.

Darrion Farrar, Wooddale: After winning just four times all last year, the Cardinals picked up their fourth victory under first-year coach Alvin Thomas as Farrar scored 24 in a 70-50 win over MLK Prep. Andre Merriweather chipped in with 19.

Sky Forrest, Lausanne: Last year's Division II-A state tournament Most Valuable Player scored 27 (6 of 9 on 3-pointers) as the Lynx improved to 2-0 with a 70-53 victory over the Memphis Nighthawks.

Brien Kimmons, Center Hill: Kimmons led a balanced attack with 22 points as the Mustangs ran their record to 12-1 with a 116-70 victory over Strayhorn (Miss.). Decorian Payton added 16 and 10 rebounds for the winners, while Johnny Marion had 14 and five steals. Kevin Henry had 13 and nine boards while Kentrell Dorsey scored 11.

Jaren Mitchell, Overton: Mitchell scored 25 points as the Wolverines picked up their first victory over the season, 63-61 over Catholic. Jad Al-Awar led the Chargers with 23.

Ethan Morris, Margolin Hebrew Academy: Simcha Osdoba led the Maccabees with 19 points but Morris turned in a terrific all-around game, scoring 17 to go along with 19 rebounds, five assists and eight steals in a 60-48 victory over Westminster.

Kavious Newsome, Kingsbury: The 6-4 senior led the Falcons with 14 points in a 46-44 victory over Sheffield. Bryan Turner led the Knights with 17.

Devin Payne, Douglas: Payne scored 18 as the Red Devils held off BTW, 76-62 in District 16-A.

Kalin White, Central: Four Warriors scored in double figures led by 25 from White in an 86-75 victory over Bolton. Joshua Kelly added 15 while John Anderson Jr. and Anthony Hassell Jr. each had 13. The Wildcats were led by Decorrian Kelly and Cory Griggs, who had 19 apiece.

Kenshun White, W.E.B. DuBois: White poured in 44 as DuBois continued to put up some impressive scoring numbers, defeating Hillcrest 110-96. Jamey Sanders added 23 while Zaylen Maclin chipped in with 22.

Quatarius York, Fayette-Ware: York scored 24 points and closed the game with a showtime dunk as the Wildcats pulled away in the second half for a 77-56 victory over Jackson Sacred Heart.

Girls

Annaliese Burnett, MHEA: Burnett scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the Eagles picked a great night to end their shooting slump, defeating Central 72-44. Lindsey Vaughn added 21 and Kylie Loadholt 17 for the defending home school national champions who are now 10-3.

Zareia Ector, Catholic: The Chargers are off to a 7-1 start following a 70-30 win against Overton in which Ector scored 17. Carria Smith added 15, Lytia Flowers 14 and Deyon Gipson 10.

Jayla Hemingway, Houston: Despite sitting out the entire fourth quarter, Houston's star had 24 points, 11 rebounds, eight steals and four assists in a xx-xx victory over Mitchell.

Hope Howlett, Macon Road Baptist: Howlett had 19 as Macon Road picked up a 70-35 victory over Central Baptist. Isabella Everett had 18 and Janinna Barber 17 while Callie Hogan scored a game-high 22 in defeat.

Sade Hudson, Trezevant: The Tennessee-Martin signee scored 28 as the Bears took control early and defeated 58-24 in District 16-AAA. Trezevant is now 3-2.

Chancey Jackson, Oakhaven: Jackson scored 22 points and had four assists as the Hawks improved to 7-0 with an 81-20 victory over W.E.B. DuBois LP&P. Jayla Webb added 12 points, Alista Williams 11 and Kierra King 10. Jackson had 19 points and four steals in Monday's 62-9 victory over Hillcrest.

Tremesha Rogers, BTW: Rogers scored 23 to lead the Warriors to a 77-50 over Douglass. 

Jada Taylor and Lauren Taylor, Collierville: The Dragons' 69-9 victory over Millington was, well, Taylor-made as each scored 15.

Shmya Ward, Whitehaven: Ward poured in 29 points as Whitehaven improved to 6-2 with a 62-36 victory over Kirby. Alexis Acoff led the Cougars with 21.

Diamond Wray, Kingsbury: Wray scored 13 and Angela Couch 12 as the Falcons kept Sheffield winless, 47-37. Cabria Thomas had 17 for the Knights.
