Montgomery Central's Trey Spencer went for the slam on a fast break against the Jo Byrns Red Devils during a game two years ago.

We're nearly a month into the high school basketball season and only a week away from Christmas break, which means many of Montgomery County's  teams will be competing in holiday tournaments.

As we end 2017, here is a look at five high school boys basketball players trending up.

Trey Spencer, Montgomery Central

Spencer has been a huge reason why the Indians' move to Class AAA, and more specifically in District 10, has been a success so far. Spencer is averaging 23.5 points and 4.3 rebounds for MCHS (5-2, 3-2).

James Williams, Kenwood

Williams has been a load offensively for the Knights. He is one of the Midstate's top scorers, averaging 24.6 points and 6.7 rebounds.

Northeast forward Alec Kegler goes up for two points in the lane against Beech's 2-3 zone during the boys Region 5-AAA tournament semifinal Tuesday in Lebanon

Alec Kegler, Northeast

A marked man at Northeast, Kegler continues to shine with a 21.6-point average while grabbing 6.1 rebounds a game for the Eagles (8-1).

Jacob Rose, Stewart County

Rose has been putting up big numbers during his senior year. The guard is averaging 19.1 points and 7.8 rebounds for the Rebels (4-3).

Clarksville Academy's Daniel Loos (40) calls for the ball down on the block against East Robertson in the first half Friday night.

Daniel Loos, Clarksville Academy

The 6-foot-6 Loos is part of one of the bigger frontcourts in the city of Clarksville. The grandson of former Austin Peay basketball coaching legend Dave Loos is averaging 17.2 points and 7.2 rebounds for the Cougars (7-2).
