ERWIN, Tenn. – Unicoi County volleyball standout Emily Lamie signed last week to continue her playing career at Johnson University just outside Knoxville.

Lamie was co-MVP of the Lady Devils this past season, finishing her outstanding senior year with 110 kills, 181 digs, 24 aces and 16 assists for coach LeAnn Lane.

“During the past two years of my coaching career at Unicoi, I can say that Emily is one of the hardest workers I've had,” said Lane. “As a junior, she didn't get much varsity playing time, mostly because I had five seniors and the position she played was already taken by two of those Seniors.

“But Emily came into her senior year with a passion and determination that spread throughout the team.”

Lamie sports a 3.7 GPA as well and is involved in Beta Club, Yearbook, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Student Council. She is also involved with Young Life in her church youth group. She plans to pursue Human Services while attending Johnson.

“Emily is a coaches dream!,” added Lane. “She does anything of her that is asked and even takes initiative, which is why she was such a great leader for us this year and why her teammates chose her as co-MVP.
