It’s December and few people are thinking about high school baseball, but that did not stop Ole South Properties from making a large donation to the Fairview High School Yellow Jacket Baseball program.

FHS head baseball coach Matt Putnam said he received a call over the summer requesting a meeting with Ole South representatives.

“We met with them and talked about our program and goals we had for upgrading our facilities. They offered to give $20,000 to put towards that effort,” said Putnam.

John Floyd Founder & Owner of Ole South Properties, Incorporated, said, “Ole South is proud to be part of the growing community here in Fairview, and as Tennessee’s favorite home builder, we take great pride in giving back to the communities where we build our neighborhoods!”

The money was big boost for the program with a portion already used to improve the Jackets’ playing surface.

“I would also like to update our outfield fence to an aluminum siding instead of the chain link. And ultimately, we want to build an indoor hitting facility with a locker room for our program. Our ability to hit and pitch in the winter months would take us to the next level,” Putnam explained.

A former Yellow Jacket baseball player himself, Putnam said, “The community has been great with supporting the baseball team. Just drive down Highway 100 and look at all the banners we have up on the fence.”

The fence is lined with promotional banners from local businesses willing to invest in youth sports.

“Their support allows us to offer more for our players. I hope local businesses continue to support us and force me to have to find more space for banners!”
