DNJ All-Area Boys Cross Country Team for 2017

Central Magnet sophomore Fuji Anday is a finalist for the All-Area Boys Runner of the Year.

With victory comes the spoils, and Siegel's boys cross country state title has the Stars well represented on The Daily News Journal's All-Area team.

Runner of the Year finalists Dawson Reed and Tucker Moss helped Siegel capture the Division I Large School state title.

Central Magnet sophomore Fuji Anday is also a finalist for Runner of the Year after leading the Tigers' transition into the Large School division with success, capturing a state team berth.

Reed was the Stars' top runner all season, finishing second in the Region 4 meet and placing sixth at state. His checked in at 16:09.32 at state.

Moss had an outstanding rookie year, taking third in the region meet and 10th at state. Anday was consistently the Tigers' top runner, placing 16th at state after a fifth-place finish in the region meet.

The Runner of the Year will be announced at a ceremony near the end of the school year.

FIRST TEAM

Siegel's Canaan Anderson.

Why chosen: One of the top area runners all season, Anderson shook off an injury that kept him out of the region by finishing 20th in the Large School state meet (16:48.66).

Central Magnet's Fuji Anday

Why chosen: Placed 16th at the Large School state (16:42.04) meet and fifth in the region meet (17:29.97).

Siegel's Tucker Moss

Why chosen: Captured 10th at the Large School state meet (16:23.01) and third at the region meet (17:09.45).

Siegel's Dawson Reed

Why chosen: Finished sixth at the Large School state meet (16:09.32) and second at the region meet (17:03.68).

Oakland's Brice Walkowski

Why chosen: Led the Stars to the Large School state title after a second-place finish at the Region 4 meet. Siegel scored 72 points at state, which was 56 better than second-place Knox Catholic. The Stars had four runners in the top 22.
