DNJ All-Area Girls Golf Team for 2017
Close was the key word to describe area girls golf in 2017.
Several area golfers were on the verge of advancing to the Large Class state tournament but missed by one or two strokes.
Daily News Journal All-Area Girls Golfer of the Year finalist Susannah Blackwell was able to reach the state in her first try.
The Siegel freshman is joined by Central Magnet's Katelyn McDaniel and Stewarts Creek sophomore Peyton Hammonds as finalists for the award.
Hammonds was low medalist at the district tournament and missed a trip to state by two strokes after a 96 in region play. McDaniel finished the region tournament with a 95, just one stroke from advancing.
