Highly anticipated Northeast-Rossview game moved to Saturday

The final day of the school week was scuttled because of poor driving conditions, leaving high school basketball in Montgomery County with nearly an entire week off.

With that in mind, the long-anticipated Northeast-Rossview boys basketball game has been moved to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Rossview High School.

Rossview's Austin Jackson holds the ball against Kenwood's defense.

Both teams waited until Friday morning to get official word on the status of the game. It was scheduled for Friday night, and the matchup was going to be the featured game on MyTV 30. But both teams decided to move it to Saturday.

"We had to wait to see if we could hold practice for (Friday)," Rossview coach Johnny Jackson said. "Once that was a go, we were allowed to move it to Saturday."

If Clarksville-Montgomery County school officials had decided to call off practice Friday, the game likely would have been rescheduled for a later date. With the move to Saturday, MyTV 30 will no longer air the game, Jackson said.

"They wanted to move the game to Wednesday, and we just couldn't do that," Jackson said.

Several other district games were rescheduled after Tuesday's games were eliminated.

Northeast sits atop District 10 with an 8-0 record (15-3 overall), while Rossview is in second with an 8-1 record (16-3 overall). The Hawks' lone district loss was to the Eagles, 74-72, on Dec. 1. The girls varsity game will start at 6 p.m.

Other rescheduled games

  • Kenwood will play host to Northwest on Saturday. Girls varsity starts at noon, and the boys varsity game starts at 1:30 p.m.
  • Clarksville High was scheduled to face Montgomery Central on Friday, but that game has been moved to next Thursday.
  • West Creek's game against Northwest on Friday has been moved to Jan. 27.
