Jade Wells, Sky Forrest win fans' vote for player of the week

Jade Wells of Northpoint and Sky Forrest of Lausanne are this week's winners of the fans' vote for Commercial Appeal high school basketball player of the week.
Wells was honored after winning Most Valuable Player honors in leading the Trojans to the championship of the Division II-A West Regional tournament. With 49.07 percent of the vote, she barely edged out second-place finisher Akerria James of Craigmont (47.83 percent). Diamond Nelson of Oakhaven finished third.
Forrest won 40 percent of the boys vote after scoring 35 points for the Lynx in a Division II-A West Regional semifinal game last week. Class AAA Mr. Basketball finalist Tyler Harris of Cordova was second at 37.93 percent.
Hamilton's Martrell Brooks was third followed by Taelyr Gatlin of Brighton.
