Greenfield's Chloe Moore looks up to the basket for a shot before a Dresden defender can reach her during their Region 7-A Championship game, Wednesday, Feb. 28. Greenfield defeated Dresden, 66-64 in double overtime to become the Region 7-A Champions.

With the clock running down in double overtime, Greenfield had to decide who was going to take the last shot.

The Lady Yellowjackets boast two of the Class A Miss Basketball finalists this season, but coach Willie Trevathan didn't have to take a timeout to figure out which one was going to take the shot.

With 0.5 seconds remaining, sophomore Chloe Moore capped off a strong showing in the Region 7-A tournament with a basket to send the Lady Yellowjackets to a 66-64  victory over Weakley County rival Dresden in the region title game.

"I wasn't calling timeout because the ball was in her hands," Trevathan said. "I am going to take my chances when the ball is in Chloe's hands, We are going to get a decent look. She went in and made a great play. That is what great players do."

So what were Moore's thoughts in those final seconds?

"Oh, my gosh, I made the shot; now I just need to get back on defense," Moore said. "We couldn't celebrate too early."

Greenfield (30-2) will host Memphis Business Academy on Saturday in a Class A sectional for a berth in the state tournament. Dresden (22-9) will travel to Booker T. Washington.

Moore had 30 points, and that final shot was redemption for her after Dresden stole the ball in the final two seconds of regulation and hit a layup to send it to overtime.

"Hats off to Dresden, as both teams played big-time basketball in a big-time environment," Trevathan said. "I can't say enough about how the kids from both teams laid it on the line."

Moore finished the Region 7-A tournament with 76 points after scoring 27 in the quarterfinal win over Trinity Christian Academy and 19 in the semifinal win over Gibson County.

"I just knew that this was a special group at Greenfield, and I knew we had a big chance to go to state," Moore said. "I just had to help out any way I could."

Miss Basketball might be a regular-season award, but Moore has shown throughout the region tournament why she is a finalist.

"She played really well for us, and she takes on a lot of responsibility for us," Trevathan said. "She stepped up and handled it well in this tournament."

Moore's quickness is hard to guard, especially when there is another Miss Basketball finalist in Tess Darby floating around the lane.

"Chloe is a great player, but so is Tess," Trevathan said. "Tess draws so much attention to herself that it opens up games for a lot other players. You've got to give a lot of credit to her because they have to pay that much attention to her."

Greenfield's Chloe Moore is tripple-teamed by Dresden defenders during their Region 7-A Championship game, Wednesday, Feb. 28. Greenfield defeated Dresden, 66-64 in double overtime to become the Region 7-A Champions.

As teams collapse around the post to try and stop Darby, Moore is open on the perimeter to try and find open lanes to the basket.

"Teams focusing on her helps me, but at the same time, we just feed off of each other," Moore said.

Even as a sophomore, Moore is helping the Lady Yellowjackets make history as the win over Dresden was the first time that they have won 30 games in a season. It was also their first region title since 2006, when they advanced to the Class A quarterfinals.
