Here are this week's candidates for The Commercial Appeal's high school baseball player of the week.

Austin Baskin, Covington: Baskin feasted at the plate against New Hope, going 5 for 5 with three homers and 10 RBI as the state's top-ranked Class AA team won 17-5.

Daniel Casto, Northpoint: In four games for the Trojans, Casto batted .545 with nine RBI.

Conner Hobbs, MUS: Hobbs has pitched complete-game victories in each of his two starts. He's allowed just eight hits, struck out 12 and has a 0.00 ERA.

Connor Shamblin, Briarcrest: Shamblin pitched a no-hitter against MHEA Monday while going 3 for 3 with two RBI. He has 20 strikeouts and a 0.00 ERA in 13 innings and is batting .650.

Blake Wimberley, FACS: The future University of Memphis Tiger struck out 14 in a 6-1 victory over Jackson Christian on Monday.
