Gabi Ray, Jack Daugherty win fans' vote for player of the week

Gabi Ray of St. Benedict and Jack Daugherty of Collierville are the winners of this week's fans' vote for Commercial Appeal high school athlete of the week.
Ray took 36.71 percent of the girls vote after hitting a sixth-inning grand slam that helped propel the Eagles to a 14-7 victory over Bartlett. Second-place went to Colleen Blaszkowski of Collierville, who earned 30.99 percent.
Whitehaven's state-best 400 and 800-meter relay squads finished third while softball player Madison Weir of Houston placed fourth.
Daugherty, a class of 2020 pitcher who is committed to Ole Miss, earned 54.34 percent of the boys vote after pitching a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts in a victory over Station Camp.
Evan Keisler, who scored a hat trick in CBHS' soccer win over Collierville, was second followed by track standouts Brandon Young (East) and Romal Webb (Raleigh-Egypt).
A new poll will be posted online Monday.
