Baylor track and field came out on top in a three-team competition with St. Andrew’s-Sewanee and South Pittsburg High at Baylor. The final score of the meet was Baylor 191, SAS 72, and SPHS 38.
SAS had top three finishes in the following boys’ events: 800 2nd junior Ryan Val (Tracy City, TN); 4x400 2nd place sophomore Eli Andrews (Sewanee, TN), senior Jack Simons (Sewanee, TN), junior Seth Walker (Monteagle, TN), and freshman Michael Vaughn (Winchester, TN); 1600 2nd Michael Vaughan, 3rd Seth Walker; High Jump 1st senior Emmanuel Thombs (Raleigh, NC); Triple Jump 2nd sophomore Edmundo Cortes (Mexico); and Shot Put 1st Jalen Tillman (Parkville, MD).
SAS had top three finishes in the following girls’ events: 1600 1st junior Sophia Patterson (Sewanee, TN); Triple Jump 2nd sophomore Sarah Beth Hobby (South Pittsburg, TN), 3rd sophomore Nneka Okolo (Medina, TN); 400 1st freshman Sarah Grace Burns (Sewanee, TN), 2nd sophomore Lucy Carroll (Sewanee, TN); 4x200 2nd senior Taylor Warmbrod (Belvidere, TN), senior Lyndsey Wall (Winchester, TN), freshman Hannah Warmbrod (Belvidere, TN), and freshman Sarah Grace Burns; 200 3rd senior Sam Kennard (Amelia Island, FL); 4x100 2nd Sarah Beth Hobby, Sam Kennard, Nneka Okolo, and Jayla McLaurin (Las Vegas, NV); 100 hurdles 2nd Sarah Grace Burns; Long Jump 2nd Sarah Beth Hobby, 3rd Nneka Okolo; Discus 2nd sophomore Isabelle Gordy (Sewanee, TN); Shot Put 2nd Isabelle Gordy, 3rd Laurel Wall.
The team’s next competition will be Thursday at Chattanooga Christian School.
