It was a winning night for the Henry County High School softball and baseball teams Tuesday in Clarksville.

The Lady Patriots scored an important 4-2 victory at Clarksville High School. The Lady Patriots improve to 14-3 on the season and 8-2 in District 10-AAA games. Henry County entertained Waverly in a softball doubleheader Wednesday and will host district rival Rossview at 6 p.m. today.

In baseball, the Patriots are now 14-8 overall and 6-6 in district play after upending Clarksville Northeast 6-2 Tuesday. The Patriots step outside the district to host Riverside today at HCHS. Junior varsity action begins at 4:30 p.m. with the varsity game to follow.

LADY WILDCATS 2

Held to just three hits over the first three innings and trailing 1-0, the Lady Patriots exploded for four runs in the top of the fifth inning to take the lead at Clarksville.

The runs came with two outs with Libby French, Emily Gilstrap, Gracie Osbron and Caroline Hudson scoring. Osbron smacked a double during the uprising, while French and Avery Cox added singles. Two runs scored on the Cox base hit.

Abigail Wilson had two hits in the game and walked. Kinsley Nichols also had a base hit.

Emily Brown was the winning pitcher. She allowed two runs on eight hits and recorded three strikeouts.

 

PATRIOTS 6, EAGLES 2

Henry County took the lead at Northeast by scoring two runs in the third inning and adding another run at the top of the fourth frame. Northeast scored twice in the bottom of the fourth stanza, but the Patriots tacked on three more runs in the seventh inning to win 6-2.

Paxton Pierpoint ripped two hits, walked twice and drove in two runs for Henry County. Casey Pope and Owen Webb also had two hits each. Will Parrish singled, scored a run and knocked in a run.

He also pitched the first 4.1 innings for the Patriots, allowing two runs with one earned run. He surrendered five hits while walking three and fanning four. Paul Atkins got one out in the game with Wesley Bomar pitching 2.1 innings. Bomar had four strikeouts.
