Northeast's Calandra Henry named female high school athlete of the week for April 16-21 in Clarksville

In a close race, Northeast High track star Calandra Henry was named the female athlete of the week in Clarksville for the week of April 16-21.

Northeast High's Calandra Henry sprints to the finish line in first place during the girls' 100-meter dash in a seven-team track meet Wednesday afternoon at Rossview High School.

Henry received 6,340 votes (50.9 percent) to capture the honor for last week's performance in a seven-team track meet at Rossview High.

West Creek long distance runner Makayla Hollifield captured 5.760 votes (46.2 percent) to come in second place. Clarksville High softball standout Shelby Gibson received 273 votes and Clarksville Academy softball player Gabi took 82 votes.

The combined overall votes from all four nominees was one of the highest poll voting The Leaf-Chronicle sports section with 12,455.
