Top returning Jackson area high school football receivers for 2018

With spring football practice in full swing, here’s a look at some of the top returning Jackson area receivers for the 2018 high school football season.

Kevin Davis (TCA, Jr.) – Davis led the Lions in receiving yards last season in helping the team to a third-place finish in Region 7-2A.

He had 539 yards receiving and six touchdowns on 40 catches.

Noah Halbrook (Peabody, Jr.) – In his best game of 2017, Halbrook accounted for five touchdowns against TCA with two rushing, two receiving and one passing.

He is back for his junior season after 619 receiving yards and nine touchdowns last year on 40 catches.

Andre Hoyle (Middleton, Sr.) – Hoyle was a key scoring fixture for the Tigers last season as he caught seven touchdown passes.

He will have another quarterback to work with this season, but his goal will be to get to 672 receiving yards on 18 catches like last year.

Samuel Jennings (TCA, Sr.) – Jennings was the Lions No. 2 receiver last year behind Davis, and he is back for his senior season, trying to be a consistent threat throughout the season.

He finished 2017 with 267 receiving yards and two touchdowns on 10 catches.

Divers Lockhart (Dresden, Jr.) – Lockhart has the potential to have a breakout season, if the Lions can stay healthy at the quarterback position.

Dresden has the running options, and Lockhart provides them a deep threat in the air. Last season, he had 241 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 14 catches.

Eli Myrick (Crockett County, Sr.) – In a receiving corps that was hit hard by graduation, Myrick is the top returner for the Cavaliers.

In 2017, he had 290 yards receiving and four touchdowns on 13 catches.

Taylor Shields (Haywood, Jr.) – With Decourtney Reed in the backfield, the Tomcats will look to Shields to help open the field with his ability to catch passes from Deyondrius Hines.

Shields had 514 yards receiving last year and seven touchdowns as Haywood reached the Class 4A semifinals.

Zach Simpson (Jackson Christian, Sr.) – Statistically, Simpson is the top returning wide receiver in West Tennessee.

Even with a new quarterback under center, Simpson will try to improve upon his 795 receiving yards and eight touchdowns on 53 receptions.
