Unaka took care of business on Monday.

The Lady Rangers outlasted Washburn to take a 3-0 Region 1-A Semifinal victory on Monday on Stoney Creek.

With the win, Unaka advanced to the Region 1-A Championship where they will host North Greene on Wednesday evening. The win also secured the Lady Rangers a Class A sectional berth.

Runs were at a premium in the early going.

Neither team was able to break onto the board until the bottom of the fourth.

Sadie Shoun hit a double to right field, and Trinity Bowers used a sacrifice bunt to move Shoun to third base.

Shoun put the Lady Rangers on the board by stealing home plate to give Unaka a 1-0 lead.

After Unaka retired Washburn with three straight strikeouts in the top of the fifth, UHS pushed the lead to 2-0 when Lyndie Ramsey hit a single that allowed Jill Faust to score.

The Lady Rangers continued to limit the Lady Pirates in the top of the sixth, and Shoun scored in the home side of the sixth to push the lead to 3-0.

In the top of the seventh, Unaka secured the win by holding Washburn at bay.

Hailey Gilman, Ramsey, and Shoun each had a hit for UHS.

Trinity Bowers picked up the win as she struck out 14 Washburn batters. She allowed just three hits.
