Tennessee signee Dylan Loy of Pigeon Forge wins second straight Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year
Pigeon Forge senior Dylan Loy was named the 2022-23 Gatorade Tennessee Baseball Player of the Year, winning the award for the second consecutive year.
The left-handed pitcher who has signed to play baseball at Tennessee also was named Mr. Baseball for Class 2A and led the Tigers to a 25-9 record and a Class 2A sectional series appearance.
By winning player of the year honors for the state, Loy is now a finalist for the Gatorade National Baseball Player of the Year award that is set to be announced later this month.
This season, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound senior compiled an 11-1 record, struck out 169 batters in 71⅓ innings pitched with a 0.10 ERA and allowed just 23 hits and 11 walks for a 0.48 WHIP. As a batter, he finished with a .549 batting average and had 13 doubles, 35 runs scored, 35 RBIs and a .879 slugging percentage.
