The North Side Indians got their second win of the year in their first game in Region 6-4A play.
The Indians went to Lexington and left Jim Stowe Field with an 18-17 win over the Tigers.
Trinity Christian 63, Fayette Aca. 41
“The game between Trinity Christian and Fayette Academy has had a lot of points scored on both sides the past few years, so I guess we kept that going tonight,” said TCA head coach Darren Bowling moments after the Lions outscored the Vikings for a win in their first Division II-A West Region game.
The Lions (2-1, 1-0) had the ball 12 times and scored on nine possessions. The other three possessions ended on a punt, an interception and time running out at the end of the first half.
“We had a good game offensively,” Bowling said. “Fayette Academy is a big, physical team, so I knew throwing the ball would probably be our best option, and the guys did a good job executing.”
Bowling said both Brayden Waller and Lekhy Thompkins had big games with multiple scores for each Lion.
Bowling said the team also did a good job of responding in practice this week to their first loss a week before.
“I think they were a little sluggish on Monday coming out of the loss, but then it picked up on Tuesday and we had great practices on Wednesday and Thursday,” Bowling said. “We had a good week, and it’s always good to get a win when the game has a direct effect on whether or not we make the playoffs. Starting 1-0 that way is better than the alternative.”
Crockett Co. 35, South Side 14
Rakarious Lacy ran for a pair of scores, but that was the only points the Hawks could put together in their road trip to Alamo.
Chuck Stokes had 48 rushing yards on six carries, and Lacy finished with 47 yards on 13 carries.
Layton Robertson completed eight of 12 passes for 166 yards.
The Cavaliers (4-0) outrushed the Hawks (2-2) 272-134 in yards.
The Hawks also had a hard time putting drives together as they committed six penalties for 57 yards, compared to Crockett County’s one penalty for five yards.
Westview 42, Liberty 6
The Crusaders (0-4, 0-1 Region 6-3A) had a hard time making stops in their first region game of the year.
The Chargers scored early and often to pull to a running clock lead for most of the second half.
