CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A historic season comes to a close as Clarksville High boys’ golf wrapped up their season after placing second at the 2023 class AA state tournament.

During their state tournament appearance, the Wildcats finished day one with a total score of 297 and then followed up their performance by shooting a total score of 294 on day two, according to CHS head coach Ken Busbee.

Clarksville High ended the tournament with a two-day score of 591. The Wildcats only finished five strokes behind the 2023 state champions, Brentwood High School, who shot a two-day total of 586.

Wildcat Parker Elkins cemented his place in TSSAA history for his individual performance, finishing the state tournament seven strokes under par (-7) and was named state champion. Elkins took over the lead during the second day of the tournament and he didn’t look back.

Here’s how the rest of the Wildcats played throughout the tournament:

  • Cooper Jones tied for fourth place with a score of -3.
  • Braeden Parker tied for 31st place with a score of +11.
  • Briley Hagewood finished 44th with a score of +17.
  • Cord Cunningham and Ethan Haston also contributed to the team’s second place finish, according to Busbee.
