The Houston football team will continue the celebration of winning its first TSSAA Class 6A state championship, thanks to the city of Germantown.

The Mustangs defeated Oakland 24-9 last Saturday in Chattanooga. They were invited to participate in the Germantown Holiday Parade this Sunday. The parade was originally scheduled for Saturday, but was moved to Sunday due to the inclement weather forecast.

“It’s amazing to see,” said Marvis Davis, the Germantown Municipal School District athletic director, of the support of the team this season. “... The community is outstanding.”

The Houston football team will be one of the first floats in the parade, which takes place in the city of Germantown from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The rain date is scheduled for Sunday.

"The city of Germantown has really come through,” Davis said of the support all season.

Along with having a float in the parade, the Mustangs will also bring the state championship trophy with them along for the ride too.

“I personally want to thank the city of Germantown,” Davis said. “I want to thank the Germantown Municipal School District and all the supporters for their support of the athletic program.”
