The Trousdale County High School girls’ basketball team has recently had a flurry of activity to conclude its regular season.

The Lady Jackets played host to district foe Liberty Creek on Monday for senior night. The hosts led by one point at the half, then pulled away in the second half to grab a 47-38 win.

“We played really hard the whole night, but overall we didn’t shoot the ball very well,” TCHS assistant coach Kyle McKinney said. “They made a run late and cut it to one point, but Braylee Potts hit a dagger three-pointer that they never recovered from.”

Junior Braylee Potts poured in 18 points, including 13 in the second half. Cayden Ray followed with 11 points, and Janae Aponte had seven. Jazmyne Dunn, Presley Clark and Emma Elmore added six, three, and two points, respectively, to raise their district record to 2-4, good enough for a third place tie.

On Tuesday, the Trousdale County girls finished their regular season with a trip to East Robertson. The Lady Jackets took a four-point lead in the final period, but found themselves trailing 51-50 in the last minute.

Potts knocked down two free-throws with 28 seconds remaining to put the visitors on top to stay at 52-51.

This win for the Lady Jackets might be their most impressive of the year, considering the Lady Indians entered the game with a 19-4 record.

“This was an amazing game if you were just a fan watching,” McKinney said. “It was back and forth throughout the night.

“East Robertson was our district foe that won the district last year, but they returned a lot of starters and added a special freshman that we couldn’t do much with.”

Ray tossed in 17 points, while Potts had nine, and Elmore seven. Dunn and Emma Holder each added six points, as Clark had three.

The Lady Jackets wrapped up their regular season with a 13-15 record and were to face White House-Heritage in the District 6-2A Tournament last night at Liberty Creek.

Trousdale County welcomed in Monterey for homecoming on Feb. 8, with games that had to be moved to Satterfield Middle School after the electricity went off at the high school.

The Lady Jackets enjoyed their best offensive game of the year, as they posted a 71-57 victory.

“I thought we played really well considering it was homecoming night and the game had to be moved to the middle school,” McKinney said. “Monterey is not an easy out, and we didn’t have an answer for #10 all night.”

Ray netted a career high 26 points, as Potts had 11, and Dunn 10. Clark chipped in nine points, Aponte seven, Zion Badru six, and Holder two.

The Lady Jackets made their first trip to Liberty Creek on Feb. 9 and were in position to get the win, but suffered a 50-43 loss. The visitors led 43-40 in the fourth quarter, but gave up a 10-0 run to end the game.

Ray and Potts were both in double figures with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Aponte produced six points, Dunn five, Elmore two, and Badru two.
