Billy Amick smashed a ball off the left-field wall in his second at-bat Sunday.

He cleared that wall and a whole lot more in his third at-bat, mashing a home run into the second deck at Globe Life Field for one of the many big swings in a high-scoring win for Tennessee baseball.

The Vols got potent play from Amick and Christian Moore on their way to an 11-5 win against Baylor to win the Shriners Children's College Showdown in Arlington, Texas. No. 8 Tennessee (2-1) won the tournament due to the best run differential.

Amick had two hits and three RBIs against Baylor (0-3). Moore had two hits and two RBIs.

Billy Amick provided two massive swings

Amick hit the ball hard all weekend, including Sunday. His triple off the wall in left scored two, breaking a 3-3 tie for a lead the Vols held on to. His homer in the sixth made it 9-5.

He flew out to the warning track in his first at-bat and hit a ball 102 mph off the bat into a double play in the sixth.

Nate Snead was a settling presence on the mound

Zander Sechrist got the first crack at being the Game 3 starter, but had a rough two-inning stint. Vols coach Tony Vitello handed the ball to Nate Snead in the third and he settled in after a rocky first inning.

The hard-throwing Wichita State transfer allowed a two-run triple in the third after walking a pair. But he struck out five in four innings, allowed two runs on four hits and walked five.

Cal transfer Chris Stamos struck out four in the final two innings.

Kavares Tears made an impression

Kavares Tears earned the opening day job in right field, but had a two-strikeout game against Texas Tech on Friday. He showed why he claimed the spot when he got back in the lineup Sunday.

The redshirt sophomore outfielder crushed a three-run opposite-field homer in the second inning. It was a key swing that put UT ahead 3-2 after Baylor got two off Sechrist in the first.
