A total of 19 high school soccer teams will converge on four Bradley County pitches for 25 matches this weekend for the annual Cleveland Classic.
With the 16 varsity teams getting in a trio of matches each, play will be held at the turfs of Benny Monroe Stadium and The Corral, plus the Greater Cleveland Soccer Association Stadium and lower fields. One match will also be held at McMinn County as well.
Action will begin with eight matches Thursday evening with cohosts Cleveland and Walker Valley both seeing action against Oak Ridge (6 p.m.) and Signal Mountain (7 p.m.) respectively.
The Blue Raiders and Mustangs will also tangle with CSLA (8 p.m.) and Chattanooga Prep (4 p.m.) Friday on their home turfs.
In Saturday's wrap up, Cleveland will host Hixson at 4:30 p.m., while Walker Valley face Knox Catholic at 4 on the GCSA Stadium pitch.
Both local squads will be looking for their first victories of the new pitch season after going winless in a trio of matches at the Smoky Mountain Classic last weekend in Gatlinburg.
Meanwhile, Bradley Central (1-0-2) will host Sequoyah Thursday at 6:30 before traveling to the Soddy-Daisy Tournament for the weekend. The Bears will battle the host Trojans Friday at 4 p.m., plus square off with Cumberland County at 1 Saturday afternoon and Lenoir City at 5 p.m.
