The Franklin County Rebelettes lost to the Lawrence County Lady Wildcats 13-4 at home Monday for their 10th loss of the season.
The Lady Wildcats scored the first 10 runs of the contest, and the Rebelettes weren’t able to rally back from the sizable deficit in the district matchup.
Lawrence County got off to a fast start offensively with two runs in the first inning, three in the second and five in the third to quickly make it a 10-0 game.
The Rebelettes broke through for their first run of the day in the bottom of the fourth with Jocilyn DeSmet hitting a two-out RBI double to put the score at 10-1.
However, the Lady Wildcats scored two more runs in the top of the fifth to pull right back ahead by double digits.
With the mercy rule potentially in play, the Rebelettes scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth to extend the contest as Ava Yates scored off of an error on a ball hit by Kaylee Morris and Mollye Casey and Emma Owens both crossed home plate following an error on a ball hit by Alyssa Sherrill to cut the lead down to 12-4.
The Rebelettes weren’t able to put up any runs in the last two innings while the Lady Wildcats scored one more time in the top of the seventh to put the final deficit at nine.
Dalayna Marshall pitched the first 2 1-3 innings for the Rebelettes with two strikeouts, seven hits, four walks, eight earned runs and two unearned runs allowed.
Kaylee Morris pitched the remaining 4 2-3 innings in relief with three hits, three walks and three runs allowed for the game.
With the loss, the Rebelettes moved to 4-10 on the season and 1-2 in district play.
They will next play Wednesday at Giles County High School. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
