Gordonsville Baseball Opens Week With 7-1 Win At Stone Memorial; Sam Albritton Strikes Out 7 In Victory

The Gordonsville Tigers opened the week in the win column as they picked up a non-district baseball victory at Stone Memorial, 7-1.

Sam Albritton led the Tigers at the plate as he went 2-4 with a triple and a run scored. Tucker Smith Smith went 1-3 with two RBIs for Gordonsville.

Albritton also recorded the win on the mound as he gave up one hit and struck out seven in four innings.

Gordonsville opened the contest with two runs in the top of the first inning as a Smith single to left scored Alex Bush. Smith came around to score on a passed ball two batters later to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.

Stone Memorial responded with a run in the bottom of the first as Talyn Hurd scored via passed ball to make the score 2-1.

Gordonsville extended their lead in the top of the fourth inning as an Albritton single to left resulted in Edward Rivera scoring via error before Albritton scored via a passed ball on the next at-bat. A Maddux Randolph ground out scored Kyle Adams three batters later to give the Tigers a 5-1 advantage.

Gordonsville tacked on two runs in the top of the seventh inning to seal their 7-1 victory over Stone Memorial.

The teams are scheduled to meet Tuesday afternoon in Gordonsville, weather permitting.
