The TSSAA Legislative Council will meet at the TSSAA office building in Hermitage on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. The meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m. central time.
The Council will revisit a multiple proposals that were tabled from their December meeting. During the December Legislative Council meeting, the members of the Council approved an addition to Article IV of the TSSAA Constitution to establish thresholds for sanctioning emerging sports. The proposed language for this addition to the TSSAA Constitution will be provided as a supplement at the meeting.
The proposal submitted by Franklin High School to sanction Girls' Flag Football will be discussed again.
The Council considered possible revisions to the Residence Rule during their meeting in December and asked the state office to bring language for their consideration to the April meeting. Proposed changes to Article II (Eligibility) of the TSSAA Bylaws will be provided as a supplement at the meeting.
In new business, a proposal to raise the Non-faculty Coach Registration fee for both middle schools and high schools by $25 will be considered. Another proposal to increase the fine for coach ejections from $250 to $500 will be discussed by the Council.
