Over the past seven seasons coaching the Notre Dame High School boys' basketball team, Jonathan Adams has left a huge mark. One which will be extremely hard to replace.

After taking the Fighting Irish to the program's first state championship game in 2023, Adams will begin a new chapter after being hired as the boys' basketball coach at Dalton High School.

"This is easily the hardest professional decision I have ever had to make," Adams said in a press release. "I love those kids more than just about anything. I am very proud of what we have accomplished. I owe everything to Notre Dame High School and that will forever be home for me."

Adams was a prep star at Baylor School and went on to score 857 points and block 92 shots in his college career for Old Dominion University from 2005-09.

He and his wife and newborn child reside in Calhoun and Adams was born in Ringgold.

Notre Dame put an exciting product on the court during Adams' tenure, which included an overall record of 141-81 (.635) to go along with four regular season district titles, two district tournament championships and a state runner-up finish to Goodpasture in the 2023 Division II-A state tournament.

The Fighting Irish made the state tournament in six of his seven years. Former Notre Dame star Tim Vaughn was twice named district MVP with current senior Cole McCormick also garnering the honor.

"Coach Adams taught me the most about family and brotherhood," said Notre Dame junior Gaas Herman, who averaged nearly 20 points and eight rebounds per game this past season. "He taught me to be there for your family and teammates when it counts the most. We are going to miss him tremendously."
